The last Gamer Garage Sale was such a hit that we're doing it again! Local gamers will be bringing their wares in all month and they will all go out for sale on Saturday August 27th. If you would like to sell items at the garage sale stop by today to pick up a form (or we can send one to you). All you need to do is catalog the items* you will be selling, sticker them with your assigned seller number and sale price, and we will put them out for sale. When your item sells, you will receive 100% of the selling price in store credit (any unsold items will be returned to the owner). We had some great deals at the last garage sale and expect even more this time. Items in the last garage sale included Wargame armies, popular board games at great prices, classic RPG books, collectible memorabilia, video games, and so much more. Start getting your things together now! All items to be included in the sale must be turned in to Firefly before 11pm on Thursday August 25th.
The public will be able to shop the sale starting at 11am on Saturday August 27th.
*No trading cards can be sold in the event, and all items are subject to approval.
Agricola is an award-winning worker placement game by famed designer Uwe Rosenberg. It's no secret that it's one of our favorite board games, and you can usually see a group playing it at Firefly every weekend. You may have noticed our player boards with individual farms where we plow our fields, plant our crops, expand our homes and families (so we can have more workers for our farms!), and work to diversify our livestock. This revised version (which releases this week) supports 1-4 players, and includes some of the most popular cards from the previous edition and expansions. There will be a lower cost of entry for this edition, as the "family mode" has been removed from the main game. Those who have played Agricola before, or who wish for a more in-depth experience won't miss the lack of the "family mode" (which plays in under 90 minutes, and doesn't use cards). For those who prefer a lighter game, or frequently play with young or new gamers, the Family Edition will be released separately later this year.
We will be holding a demo session for the revised Agricola on Sunday May 22nd at 3pm. We are excited to show you the new changes and hope you can join us!
The last few weeks of April will be packed full of gaming fun! We have an X-wing Miniatures Tournament, a Heroclix Uncanny X-men Prerelease, a Pokemon League Challenge, and a Pokemon Prerelease coming up the weekend of the 23rd and 24th. The following weekend will give you plenty of opportunites to play card games with a Magic Game Day, and Yugioh Sneak Peak on both Saturday and Sunday. For all your board gamers there will be plenty of opportunites for fun with the 4th annual International Tabletop Day (ITTD) happening on April 30th. ITTD events will include special game tournaments such as Machi Koro, 7 Wonders, and Cash n' Guns, along with demonstrations of some fun Steve Jackson, and AEG games! What will you be playing?!
A few of the Firefly staff members just returned from one of the best Game Retailer conventions in the world, the GAMA Trade Show. GAMA highlights some of the newest offerings from publishers and offers a sneak peek at some exciting upcoming products and OP changes. Some of the most notable items include some super sweet Zelda and Mario items (Chess, Yahtzee, puzzles), and a new Collectible card game for Steve Jackson's Munchkin. Eric got a chance to play some demo games of Guild Ball, an interesting new Miniatures Game. Stop by and ask him all about it.
We are very excited about the new Heroclix Civil War Storyline Organized Play events which will be played as 4 person Battle Royale events (with pro versus anti-registration factions) and snake drafting at the end for prizes! This will be a monthly OP with a leaderboard and additional grand prizes after the monthly events have been completed.
In terms of Pokemon, draft and sealed events should be greatly improved with the introduction of Evolution packs. As you may know, sometimes in draft and sealed, you can't get the basic Pokemon you need in order to play the evolved form of that Pokemon, or vice versa. The Evolution packs should help with that. We can't wait to see the new packs during the Fates Collide Prerelease, which will be happening soon (keep an eye on our Pokemon page).
From PSI, publisher of the Panic line of games (Castle Panic, Munchkin Panic, Dead Panic) comes Star Trek Panic *squeee, and a fun cat hoarding game called Here, Kitty, Kitty! Check out those adorable cat miniatures!
We are also excited about the new games being released by Ultra-Pro. You may know Ultra-Pro for their great collectible card gaming supplies, but be on the lookout soon for some of their newest game offerings as they have acquired Jolly Roger games (publisher of Pirates vs Dinosaurs).
From our friends at Looney Labs, we got a chance to check out the new Firefly Flux, as well as Mad Libs the Game. Stop by the store to try the demo copies of both, and look for them on our shelves later this week.
Everyone wants the new Pokemon Generations packs! The Mythical Mew Collections were released last week, and now this week brings us the Mythical Celebi collection. Inside each Collection you will find a special foil card, TWO Generations packs (only available in the Mythical Collections, and a special pin.
So, what's in these new special Generations packs?
